London bound

A few weeks ago, I packed my knitted wears up and took them to London for the House and Gardens' interior and retail show. It was so much fun, I always love doing the big shows in London as I can display and VM my knits to my hearts content, it's like having my very own little shop for a week! So me and my husband packed up the van and set off early to set up my show.

When we got to London the temperatures had reached 32 degrees, yes this was the beginning of the week of "the hottest temperatures in 20 years!" You know the one!

So yes I was completely aware that I was setting up a knitwear stand in the sweltering heat! But we thought we'd go for it anyway, evening BBQ poncho anyone!? The show actually went really well, it was better than last years which was a total surprise and I met so many lovely people, other makers and business owners as well as old and new customers. It's always so nice to be in London and out of the studio.

Here's some photo's of my stand if you haven't seen it before, this year I changed the lay out a little, I always use it as a way to test the stand layout for the Christmas shows. I hope you like it! My next show is at Hampton Court Palace for Kirstie Allsopp's Handmade Fair which I have free tickets for so if you would like to have a ticket please let me know. I'd love to see you there! http://www.thehandmadefair.com/

Designing something new...

Now we're stepping into May (finally!) I thought I'd reflect back on April and let you know a little of what I've been up to. For me April has been all about designing some new pieces for Autumn/ Winter 2017.

Throughout the Christmas period I was mainly busy knitting and packing orders, so much so it becomes hard to think about anything else, let alone deigning new pieces. So finally in April after catching up on admin, emails and trade shows throughout January, February and march (as well as having a little holiday in between!) I was able to take some time out to get the creative juices flowing once again!

For inspiration I always start with Pinterest, it's a great way to find some beautiful pictures, patterns and colour combinations fast. I also love looking at magazines, blogs, books and trend websites.

This year I have loved the monochrome trend which uses lots of different textures and patterns using white, greys and black. However I'm also in love with bright yellow at the moment. Both will be making an appearance in some new pieces this year I'm sure!

Sample Sale now on!

After coming back from Christmas the studio was looking a little worse for wear and so I decided to have a little clear out. I found stock I didn't even realise I had and so I am doing a little sample sale of all the old stock to make room for the new Spring collection! So here it is (finally!) There is only one of each piece apart from the Blume cushions so be quick to grab a bargain as lot of the stock has already sold out! Each piece is up to 50% off so enjoy! http://www.gabriellevary.co.uk/sample-sale

Video of Gabrielle Vary Knitwear

Last year I was lucky enough to win the My country Business Award from Country Homes and Interiors magazine. This year as part of their advertising campaign for their new Country Business Awards I was asked to create this film to showcase how far I had come since winning the award. It's taken me a little while to upload it to my blog but I thought better late than never! I absolutely loved being part of the film and although found it utterly terrifying being in front of the camera I was so pleased with the result! Click the link below to watch and see what you think! Enjoy!

Spring/ Summer 2015

I have some brand new Summer knitwear which I've just uploaded onto my website this week! I have been wanting to design a range of cardigans and ponchos for a while as I love the relaxed, sophisticated look they add to an everyday outfit. I have added my usual twist of geometric patterns with a splash of colour, of course! Have a look and I hope you like!

Gabrielle Vary Knitwear in the press for September

September seems to be hotting up outside but in the magazines things are getting considerably cooler. I was lucky enough to be featured in two different autumnal magazines this month showcasing my range of knitted scarves for that cold winter snap.

The first was with Country Living magazine, showing that my scarves are unisex by being modeled on a man in a beautiful autumnal photo shoot.

The second magazine I have been featured in is the lovely Country Homes and Interiors magazine where I was given a full page spread with a little interview about me and my business as part of winning my award!

Yep and if you read closely even my border terrier gets a mention!!
